The Kite Society of Great Britain this year celebrates its' 30th anniversary. Founded in 1979 the Kite Society has grown to be recognised as the leading organisation for kitefliers in Great Britain with over 3500 members worldwide. The main vehicle of communication is the quarterly publication "The Kiteflier" which is published in January, April, July and October of each year. This publication contains news of forthcoming kite festivals, kite retailer news, kite plans, kite group news and a comprehensive events list.
The Kite Society organises four International Kite Festivals each year at Weymouth, Blackheath, Portsmouth and Margate which are recognised by kitefliers across the globe as amongst the best events in the world.
